Classic Car Show at Patty Turner Center - public invited

The Patty Turner Center Fourth Annual Classic Car Show will feature about 20 classic cars on display 8:30 - 10:30 on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the Patty Turner Center, 375 Elm Street, Deerfield, IL 60015. Public is welcome to attend.

Some of the cars confirmed to be on display include: Stuart Tray's 1929 Ford Model A Special Coupe, John and Jennifer Maxson's 1931 Model A Ford Sport Coupe, Claude and Audrey Ohanesian's 1936 Packard Eight Convertible Coupe, John and Jennifer Maxson's 1941 Packard Model 120 Convertible Coupe, Rob Troxel's 1941 Packard Model 110 (modified), Jim Neill's 1948 Jeepster Pickup, Ken Birchard's 1953 Jaguar XK 120 Fixed-Head Coupe, Gary Thomas's 1954 Packard Caribbean Convertible, Jerry Madden's 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible, Tom Durham's 1966 Jaguar E-Type (XKE) and Mark Litzinger's 2013 Morgan Three-wheeler.

At 8:30 a.m. owners will give a brief description of his car at an indoor gathering with coffee and pastries. At about 10:00 a.m. the crowd will move outdoors for the exhibition.

Although every car on display is special in its own way, top classics include a 1936 Packard Eight Convertible Coupe owned by Claude and Audrey Ohanesian of Lake Forest, a 1953 Jaguar XK 120 Fixed-Head Coupe owned by Ken Birchard of Deerfield, and a 1954 Packard Caribbean Convertible owned by Gary and Terry Thomas of Highland Park.

One car to be featured will be John and Jennifer's 1931 Model A Ford, a car John has owned since he was in high school, a total of 51 years. John purchased the car in good running condition for $400 in 1964 from the original owner, an elderly dentist in Bethesda, Maryland. The car was superficially restored during John's college days and then restored again only several years ago. According to John, "The car was my daily driver for the first few years, but Jennifer and I have had a lot of fun with it ever since, driving it away from the church following our wedding and taking our children for countless rides in the rumbleseat."

The show, sponsored by Sunset Foods and Deerfield Rotary, is an activity of the Patty Turner Center Men's Club, which meets every Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. for a wide variety of professionally presented programs. The Patty Turner Center is an adult recreational and educational facility of the Deerfield Park District.

The Patty Turner Center is an enrichment program of the Deerfield Park District, in cooperation with the Village of Deerfield.
