Scholarships available for Fox Country Players Theatre Arts Academy

Fox Country Players will award two Lenore Wissmiller Memorial Scholarships to two high school students interested in pursuing the performing arts.

Each scholarship is for $50 and will be applied toward tuition for Fox Country Players' Theatre Arts Academy which takes place July 6-24 at the Yorkville Congregational Church.

Wissmiller, a former English teacher at Yorkville High School, founded the Fox Country Players in 1979 as an afterschool program for her students who were in need of a creative outlet. The club evolved into a community theater group producing quality performances several times a year. Wissmiller directed 17 productions and was instrumental in establishing the organization.

The Fox Country Players Theatre Arts Academy is a two- or three-week program for students entering first grade through graduating seniors.

At the academy, students are immersed in every aspect of the production process. They have the opportunity to participate in compelling workshops and gain practical performance experience as they are directed by top theater educators and professionals. These rising stars will make new friends, gain confidence and improve their stage presence in a low pressure, fun and supportive environment.

Recipients of the Lenora Wissmiller Memorial Scholarship will be chosen based on several criteria, including past theatrical experience and future aspirations in the arts.

High school students interested in applying for one of these scholarships should visit www.foxcountryplayers.org to print out an application.

Completed applications must be submitted to Fox Country Players, P.O. Box 46, Yorkville, IL 60560 by Wednesday, June 10.
