Standoff ends peacefully in Wauconda
A standoff in Wauconda ended peacefully about 8 p.m. Sunday, police said.
According to a news release, authorities in Buffalo Grove asked for help from Wauconda police in locating Mitchell C. Bender, 31, a suspect in a domestic battery case who was believed to have a handgun.
Police found Bender in a home at 2440 Bluewater Drive, the news release said, and officers from multiple departments surrounded the residence around 4:45 p.m.
Police spoke to Bender by phone, and after a few hours, he surrendered without incident, authorities said. No gun was located.
Bender was turned over to Buffalo Grove police.
