Local police, students working together to prevent underage drinking

The Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Prospect Heights and Wheeling in cooperation with the Link Together Coalition and OMNI Youth Services will be kicking off the "Your Actions Matter!" campaign Thursday, May 7.

The campaign is a youth-led initiative that is designed to change adult attitudes about giving alcohol to minors. Local high school and middle school students are working with participating stores to spread the word. Students and police will be placing youth-designed bottle hangers and posters in participating businesses that sell liquor, serving as a reminder that preventing underage drinking is everyone's responsibility. The materials were created by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission's Don't Be Sorry campaign.
