Cause of Barrington Hills fire remains under investigation

Barrington Countryside fire officials continue to investigate the cause of a fire Saturday that gutted a Barrington Hills mansion. Firefighters returned to the scene early Sunday afternoon, nearly 24 hours after the fire started, to prevent remaining embers from reigniting, as well as to give further assistance to the home's occupants. Take the 3-D challenge against distracted driving

The suburban-based Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists is working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the "One Text or Call Could Wreck It All" campaign against distracted driving. AAIM wants drivers to take the 3-D pledge: "I pledge not to drive Dangerously: I pledge not to text and Drive; and I Decide not to drink and drive." Full story.

Elgin police await autopsy

Elgin police are awaiting results from an autopsy of a 20-year-old man found shot to death early Saturday morning. The Kane County coroner's office will determine after today's autopsy whether the death of Daniel Figueroa was a homicide, police said. Full story.

Garage fire spreads to Aurora home

An Aurora family lost their garage and some of their home's roof to fire Sunday afternoon. Battalion Chief Don Jackley said the fire is believed to have started at around 1 p.m. in the attached garage on the house on the corner of Parker Avenue and Hinman Street before spreading to the roof and attic. Miranda Lambert was on a red-hot winning streak Sunday night at the Academy of Country Music Awards - and she even rocked a red-hot bustier and disheveled hair when she performed "Little Red Wagon." Rodon in big leagues today

Not long after a 9-1 loss Sunday at Detroit, the White Sox called up Carlos Rodon from Class AAA Charlotte. He'll be at U.S. Cellular Field today. Following the same path as current ace Chris Sale and former workhorse starter Mark Buehrle, Rodon is expected to pitch out of the bullpen when he joins the team. Full story.
