Hutt scores game-winner for Neuqua Valley

Neuqua Valley 2, Metea Valley 1:

The Wildcats (4-2, 1-0) scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh when Kevin Hutt came home on a fielder's choice in the Upstate Eight Valley game. Winning pitcher Will Drake struck out six and walked none in a 5-hitter. Hard-luck losing pitcher Jack Szott struck out 13 and allowed only 3 hits for Metea Valley (4-1, 0-1).

Glenbard South 5, Riverside-Brookfield 1:

Dylan Brambora pitched a 2-hitter and the Raiders (5-2, 1-1) broke a 1-1 tie by scoring 4 runs in the top of the seventh inning to even their Metro Suburban West series with the Bulldogs. Kyle Carli doubled home 2 runs and Alex McGimpsey and Brambora also had RBI hits.

West Chicago 4, Larkin 1:

A 3-run bottom of the first inning set the stage for the Wildcats (3-2, 1-0) in their Upstate Eight River win. Peyton Seidler struck out nine in the complete-game victory. Connor Dall went 3-for-4 while Jared Smothers had 2 hits and Brian Sullivan drove in 2 runs.

Glenbard West 1, WW South 0:

Zach Lutz was the complete-game winning pitcher for the Hilltoppers (4-3), who scored the game's lone run in the bottom of the fifth. Arno Curtis went 2-for-3 for Glenbard West while Chris Simpson had 2 hits for WW South (1-5).

Naperville Central 8, Providence 5:

The Redhawks (5-3) broke out to a 7-0 lead as Connor Gurnik and Bobby McMillen combined for 5 hits and 6 RBI. Justin Wegner and Mack Heatherly added 2 hits apiece. Glenn Kozlowski picked up the win with relief help from Tony Petrungaro and Mike Mlotek.

Waubonsie Valley 17, East Aurora 2:

Nick Price, Ryan Jones, Jason Neville and Ryan Strick all had 3 RBI as the Warriors (5-1, 1-0) rolled to the Upstate Eight Valley victory. Neville struck out eight in a 5-inning 5-hitter.

Timothy Christian 12, Walther Christian 1:

Carter Johnson and Connor Loughead each drove in 3 runs for the victorious Trojans, who scored 9 runs in the bottom of the fourth in the five-inning win. Loughead also won on the mound.

Elk Grove 6, Wheaton North 1:

Jason Szumski doubled home Kevin Wong with the lone run for the Falcons (2-5) in their nonconference loss.

Fenwick 13, Montini 6:

Jake Pestel and Jack Gerberich, who went 2-for-4, each drove in 2 runs for the Broncos (7-1) in their nonconference loss.

Marian Central 11, St. Francis 10:

The Hurricanes rallied to victory with 3 runs in the top of the seventh inning. Brett Whelton went 4-for-5 for St. Francis (5-3) while Tim Lilly, Mike Beach and Foster Heise combined for 7 RBI.
