Bouncer shot during Fox Lake bar brawl

A bouncer at a Fox Lake bar was shot and a patron suffered head injuries during a brawl early Saturday morning, according to local police.

Police arrested three people, including a Waukegan man they believe was the shooter.

The shooting took place at about 2:45 a.m. at Pug Mahones Irish Pub & Grill at 282 E. Grand Ave., police said.

The bouncer, Tim Reid, 27, suffered a gunshot wound to his right shoulder, police said. He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and treated for a wound that Fox Lake police described as not life threatening.

Additionally, police said an unidentified male patron sustained head injuries when he was pushed down some stairs off the back deck and his face struck the back of a pickup. Police said the man was treated at Centegra Hospital in McHenry, but were unclear how he arrived there.

The shooting was preceded by a “large fight at the bar,” police said. Bouncers attempted to break up the fight and that's when multiple shots were fired. No one else was struck by the bullets.

Police said the suspects fled in a car, but were followed by another patron who called police and informed them about the direction of travel. Eventually police caught up to the suspect vehicle and arrested three people, including Keith Lee Jr., 21, of Waukegan, who police said is believed to be the shooter. Lee is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of firearm and possession of a defaced firearm. Lee is being held at the Lake County jail in lieu of a $750,000 bond.

Police said the brawl remains under investigation and other charges may be forthcoming.
