Deerfield Park District seeks summer pool staff

The Deerfield Park District is looking for responsible candidates to fill open lifeguard positions at its Mitchell and Deerspring outdoor pools.

• Lifeguards: Must be at least 15 years old (preferably 16). The park district is looking for responsible candidates to fill open lifeguard positions. Previous aquatic or lifeguarding experience is preferred. Applicants must complete StarGuard Lifeguard Certification and Exam upon hire. Must be able to complete the following prerequisites to be considered for position: 50-yard swim, 50-yard head up swim, one minute of treading water, and retrieval of a weighted object from the bottom of a 12-foot-deep pool. These will be administered during the interview process.

• Swim instructor: Must be at least 15 years old (preferably 16). Looking for energetic, responsible and dependable individuals who have swimming knowledge and enjoy working with children. Applicants must be able to motivate children of all ages and swimming levels and be able to help children become comfortable with the water and improve their swimming skills. Instructors must attend instructor training and work the entire lessons session. Vacations are limited. Applicants must complete Starfish Swim School Certification and Exam upon hire.

• Cashiers: Must be at least 18 years old. Looking for honest individuals who are able to handle money responsibly and are comfortable working with numbers, computers, and telephones. Must be able to deal respectfully and effectively with the public and pool patrons.
