ESO celebrates Oscars with movie music

Conductor Andrew Grams and the Elgin Symphony Orchestra returned to Schaumburg and Elgin over the weekend to present concerts highlighting Academy Award-winning music to please movie and music lovers alike.

The ESO brought to life musical scores from movies like “Sunset Boulevard,” “Titanic,” “Dances with Wolves” and even “Star Wars” during performances Friday at the Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg and Saturday and Sunday at the Hemmens Cultural Center in Elgin.

Grams, a graduate of The Julliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music, has been billed as one of America's most promising and talented young conductors, and already has appeared with many of the great orchestras of the world.
