Suburban men accused of trying to board planes with guns

Two suburban men are among three people charged with attempting to take a handgun through security checkpoints at Chicago airports, police say.

The incidents took place on different days in the last week, one at Midway Airport and two at O'Hare International Airport.

Leo Kurylo, 44, of Lombard was arrested at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at a security checkpoint in Midway Airport after, police say, an unloaded .40 caliber semiautomatic handgun was found in a carry-on bag. Kurylo was charged with one felony count of attempting to board an aircraft with a weapon.

Aaron Anderson, 46, of Des Plaines was arrested at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday at a security checkpoint at O'Hare after a loaded handgun was found in one of his carry-on bags, authorities said. He was charged with attempting to board an aircraft with a weapon and possession of ammunition and possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card. A Florida man, Kunal Singh, 29, was arrested Friday morning and similarly charged after an unloaded handgun was found in his carry-on bag, police said.
