Lions invite all to 'super' fun bowling benefit

Here's a family-friendly Super Bowl Sunday event with something for everyone, and it's all for a great cause.

Come watch the game at the Schaumburg-Hoffman Lions Club's sixth annual "SUPERBowling Party" at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1 at AMF Hoffman Lanes, 80 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates.

The benefit raises funds for Little Angels Center for Exceptional Care (www.littleangels.org), a state-of-the-art facility in Elgin offering round-the-clock skilled nursing and therapies for children and young adults who have severe disabilities and complex medical needs.

"A bathtub might not seem like the perfect gift … until you need one. At Little Angels, we're in need of several bathtubs, plus the guarantee of hot water to use with them," said Mary Jean Adkins, Little Angels director of development.

"For our children and young adults, Little Angels is home. Just like your home, ours is filled with love, play, work, meals, bedtimes and bathtubs."

Adkins said Little Angels has a goal in 2015 to make necessary improvements which have been put off for several years, which is why "the dedication and support from the Schaumburg-Hoffman Lions Club is so amazing.

"They pour their hearts and souls into this event, raising much-needed funds for our Little Angels," she said.

The $15 advance ticket price ($10 for children under 13) includes unlimited bowling, shoe rental, a halftime buffet, and bidding at the silent auction for restaurant certificates, spa packages, sports memorabilia and romantic getaways at Hilton Chicago and Hyatt Regency Scottsdale.

"So get off the couch and get in some strikes between the touchdowns," says Debbie Nelson of Arlington Heights, a Little Angels supporter who attends the annual event with her family. "You'll be having fun while feeling extra good about supporting a great cause."

Bring friends and family or gather up co-workers to form a team. All ages are welcome. To order tickets and for more information, go to www.shlions.org or call Lion Vivian Leabhart at (224) 402-2153.
