Man accused of threatening Crystal Lake police officer

A 24-year-old former Lake in the Hills resident has been charged with threatening a public official, police said.

Crystal Lake police said Gerard Xavier Golston posted a rap video on his Facebook page with lyrics that included a Crystal Lake police officer's name. The lyrics also stated Golston's intent to shoot the officer, according to a news release.

Police said other postings and an investigation indicated Golston may have or had access to a firearm and threatened violence toward other people.

Crystal Lake police obtained an arrest warrant for Golston. He surrendered himself at the McHenry County jail and was taken into custody. Golston is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
