Lombard VFW honors Glenbard East band director

Glenbard East High School Band Director Tara Cappelletti has been selected as the Veterans of Foreign Wars High School Teacher of the Year for Lombard VFW Lilac Post 5815 and received the VFW 19th District Teacher of the Year Award.

The 19th District area consists of area counties outside of Cook County.

Cappelletti, honored Friday, Jan. 10, at an awards banquet, was selected not only because of her impressive and outstanding reputation at the high school, but also for her activities outside school, including volunteer musical performances sponsored by veterans' organizations and the community, according to Richard "Mike" Mikulecky, Lombard Lilac VFW Post 5815 post chaplain and chairman of the Teacher of the Year Committee.

"Her selection reflects highly upon Glenbard East High School and the community," Mikulecky said.
