'Walk a Mile in My Shoes' raises funds for Aurora, Elgin homeless outreach

Sign up now for the ninth annual Wayside Cross Ministries fundraiser, "Walk a Mile in My Shoes," benefiting Lifespring and Urban Youth Ministries in Aurora and Elgin Wayside Center in Elgin.

Aurora's Wayside Cross Ministries will hold its benefit mile walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14. The event starts and ends at First Presbyterian Church's John R. Harkness Family Center, 60 S. Fourth St. in Aurora. Registration and refreshments are from 8 to 9 a.m. Walkers will step out at 9 a.m. A rally will follow the walk. Individuals and teams are invited to walk to benefit Wayside's Urban Youth Ministry and Lifespring Center, a transitional living center for homeless women and children. The Elgin "Walk a Mile" begins at 9 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 1565 Larkin Ave., Elgin. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The Walk-a-Mile concludes at the Elgin Wayside Center, 1732 Berkley St. They will host an open house until 11 a.m. Join them to raise hope and funding for the Elgin Wayside Center serving the homeless in the Elgin area.
