St. Charles drill teams raise $100,000 at Kick-A-Thon 2014

Each year, the St. Charles North and St. Charles East high school drill teams unite to raise funds to help fight cancer through the Kick-A-Thon.

This year's Kick-A-Thon was held Oct. 17. The total amount raised was unveiled Saturday, Dec. 6, at the beginning of the crosstown rival varsity basketball game between the St. Charles North and St. Charles East high schools.

The total of funds raised amounted to $100,021.14. Proceeds were donated to the Geneva Chapter of the Living Well Resource Center, American Cancer Society and Fox Valley Food for Health.

This year marked the 21st anniversary of the event. Many former drill team members returned to kick for the event, which raised a record amount. There were more than 160 community kickers who also participated.

Join them next year on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, for the 22nd annual Kick-A-Thon, which will be held at the St. Charles East High School stadium in between the sophomore and varsity games.
