Woman charged with filing false stabbing report

A Des Plaines woman has been charged with filing a false police report for saying she was stabbed last month while jogging in a Palatine forest preserve, Cook County officials said Monday.

Veronica Klicka, 33, reported that on Nov. 29 she was stabbed by a stranger while on a trail in Deer Grove East Forest Preserve near Palatine. She was treated for a stab wound at a nearby hospital. Since then, Cook County sheriff's officials learned she injured herself with a knife and created the story because she was on supervision from a DUI and thought she wasn't supposed to be in possession of a knife, authorities said. Klicka was arrested Friday and charged with disorderly conduct - false report of an offense. She appeared in court Saturday and was released on her own recognizance after a bond hearing.
