Believe Project: Cancer survivor to give $100 to feed families of cancer

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Melissa Gallagher of Rolling Meadows. Here is an excerpt of her pitch:

"The $100 would make nourishing soups and meals for cancer patients undergoing radiation and chemo treatment. I estimate about 10 soups or meals could be made for cancer patients and their families. I am a recent breast cancer survivor and would like to give back to others. During this past year of recovering from surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, I had friends, neighbors and people who just knew of my situation bring by meals for our family. These meals helped carry us through and brightened our world. We are forever grateful and wish to help others."

• The Believe Project will award $100 each day in December to a different person with a good idea for how to use $100 to do a good deed for someone else. Email us your pitch of 100 words or fewer (include your name, address and hometown) to specialevents@dailyherald.com.
