Book presentation with author Mary Anne Phemister

Windsor Park, a faith-based, notnprofit continuing care retirement community administered by Covenant Retirement Communities, will host author and Windsor Park resident Mary Anne Phemister for a book launch and signing event on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 3 p.m.

Phemister will discuss her novel "Hannah More: The Artist as Reformer," which details the life of one of the most influential female writers of her time. More (1745-1833) was a Christian playwright, poet, novelist and tract writer, who also played major roles in the abolition of the slave trade and opening schools for the poor. Her only novel, "Coelebs in Search of a Wife," (1808) outsold Jane Austen's in her lifetime.

Phemister's other novels include "Mere Christians: Inspiring Stories of Encounters with C.S. Lewis," "Lessons from a Broken Chopstick," and "32 Wheaton Notables, their stories and where they lived."

Books for signing are available for purchase. Admission is free.

Windsor Park is at 124 Windsor Park Drive in Carol Stream.
