Buffalo Grove woman pleads guilty to fraud

A Buffalo Grove woman employed at a Palatine currency exchange was sentenced to 30 months' probation and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service in exchange for pleading guilty to using a false name, court records show.

Maria Munoz-Rojas, 45, was also ordered to pay $694 in fines.

Authorities say she and another employee at a currency exchange on Dundee Road created fictitious addresses to process vehicle license and title applications for out-of-state residents unable to obtain those documents in other states.

Employees in the Illinois secretary of state's office discovered irregularities in paper work and contacted secretary of state police to investigate, a spokesman for the state office said.
