Driver critically injured after crashing into Streamwood home

The driver of a semitrailer remains hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after hitting two vehicles in Bartlett, leaving the road and crashing into a Streamwood townhouse, police said.

The semi was going east on Route 20 when it struck the first vehicle and then another, police said. Bartlett officers and firefighters, who were called about 2:40 p.m. Monday to Oak Avenue and Lake Street, found the semi had plowed into a corner unit in The Oaks subdivision in Streamwood.

Bartlett police are still investigating the crash, but don't believe alcohol, drugs or speed played a factor, Sgt. Geoff Pretkelis said.

The semi driver was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. No one else suffered any injuries, police said.
