Team Toma cheers on 'Biggest Loser' contestant at Addison Trail
About 100 family, friends and fans of "The Biggest Loser" contestant Toma Dobrosavljevic turned out in support of the Bloomingdale resident during a group photo and viewing party at Addison Trail High School Oct. 23.
Wearing "#TeamToma" T-shirts, they signed a card and posed for a group photo in the school gymnasium, which will be sent to Dobrosavljevic as he competes on the NBC weight-loss competition show.
Afterward, they watched the show together in the school's auditorium.
Dobrosavljevic, 33, a former athlete at Addison Trail, is still in the running for "The Biggest Loser" title. He started the competition weighing 336 pounds and, six weeks in, he is now under 270 pounds. He is on the "White Team," being trained by the show's new trainer, Jen Widerstrom of Lisle.
The crowd at the Addison Trail event included lots of fellow Class of 1999 alumni, Dobrosavljevic's former soccer coach, a few people from The Biggest Loser resort in Itasca, and the 2009 at-home winner of "The Biggest Loser, Jerry Hayes of Wheaton.
Addison Trail coach Mario Fernandez helped get a new Addison Trail jersey with the number "4," which is symbolic of his "return to glory," the show's theme. The number holds special significance to Dobrosavljevic because it was the number on his late father's soccer jersey.
The show airs on NBC at 7 p.m. Thursdays.
