A "person of interest" remains in custody after a Carpentersville woman was found dead Monday night in her home, police said. The woman appeared to have been stabbed in her home. The woman's death appeared to be related to a domestic situation, authorities said. Full story.

Blowtorch likely cause of Elk Grove fire

As many as 20 residents are displaced from their Elk Grove Village condos after a fire there Tuesday night. The fire was likely sparked by a construction crew using a blowtorch to solder water pipes together, authorities said. The fire ignited on the first floor of a building in the Terrace of Elk Grove Village condo complex, spreading through the walls to the second and third floors, but firefighters were able to prevent it from going any farther. FAA works to restore O'Hare to normal service

Federal Aviation Administration officials say they are working "around the clock" to meet an Oct. 13 deadline to restore airport service to normal. The Chicago Department of Aviation reported there were about 260 flights canceled at O'Hare and delays of up to 30 minutes in the aftermath of Friday's sabotage at Chicago Center, the high-altitude air traffic control facility in Aurora. Brace yourself for work on Arlington Hts., Rand roads

Starting today, road construction crews will be at work on both sides of Arlington Heights Road from Lake-Cook Road to Route 83 in Buffalo Grove. On Thursday, work is set to begin on an eight-month resurfacing project on Rand Road from Lake-Cook Road in the Kildeer area to Ela Road in Lake Zurich. Work on Arlington Heights and Buffalo Grove roads will cost $873,628. Most of the expense will be for Arlington Heights Road, officials said. Full story.

Son of Wood Dale alderman pleads guilty to sexual assault charges

The son of a Wood Dale alderman pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Jordan Wesley, 20, was accused of sexually assaulting the Itasca girl at parks and wooded areas in Wood Dale and Itasca and had been held in DuPage County jail on $500,000 bail since his arrest last October.
