Round Lake man pleads guilty to residential burglary of 79-year-old woman

A Round Lake man has pleaded guilty to one count of residential burglary for tying up and robbing a 79-year-old woman in January 2013, authorities said.

Robert Frisbie, 35, of the 100 block of Orchard Street, was sentenced to 7 years in prison after the negotiated plea deal was approved by Lake County Judge George Bridges on Thursday, Assistant State's Attorney Matt DeMartini said.

Frisbie will be eligible for parole after serving 50 percent of the sentence.

He could have been sentenced up to 30 years in prison if found guilty of aggravated kidnapping, trespassing to a residence and aggravated robbery. Those charges were dismissed by prosecutors as part of the negotiated settlement.

Authorities said Frisbie pushed into the woman's Orchard Street home about 9 p.m. brandishing a BB gun and wearing a ski mask. He forced the victim to retrieve $200, authorities said, then used electrical tape to bind her in her bathroom.

The victim was not injured in the attack, authorities said. She later escaped and phoned police from a neighbor's home.

While the investigation into the robbery was taking place, Frisbie called Round Lake Police and reported that a man wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun had pushed past him into his home and robbed him of $250 and a large television set, authorities said.

Authorities discovered Frisbie pawned the television set he said was stolen in Round Lake Beach, prompting police to question him about the robbery of the 79-year-old woman.

Frisbie eventually confessed to robbing the victim and pawning his own television, authorities said.
