Bikers to take to roads for Hogs for Dogs September fundraiser

Rev up your Harley, Honda, or any other vehicle for Heartland Animal Shelter's eighth annual Hogs for Dogs (and Kitties Too) Charity Ride Sunday, Sept. 7. Registration for the ride will start at 10:30 a.m. at Heartland Animal Shelter, 2975 Milwaukee Ave., in Northbrook, and the ride will start with the first bike out at 11:45 a.m. Riders can visit with Heartland's furry residents from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

The leisurely "observation" ride will wind through the Northern suburbs, approximately 70 miles, ending at the after "paw-ty" at Side-Outs Bar and Eatery, 4018 Roberts Road, in Island Lake. Registered attendees will enjoy free food and live music by Smarty Pants at Side-Outs. Participants can also take part in a large raffle for the animals with plenty of great prizes. Also the day of the event, riders and passengers are encouraged to bring 10 items from Heartland's Wish List at www.heartlandanimalshelter.net in exchange for a Hogs for Dogs (and Kitties too) patch.

Registration for each rider is $25 in advance or $30 on the day of the ride. Registration is $10 in advance for passengers of riders, or for those who just want to join the "paw-ty" at Side-Outs after the ride. Registration information can be found at www.heartlandanimalshelter.net/Events.

Hogs for Dogs (and Kitties Too) is presented by the friends and volunteers of Heartland Animal Shelter. Sponsorship opportunities and raffle donations are still being accepted at the shelter.

Proceeds benefit Heartland Animal Shelter, a no-kill humane organization dedicated to finding homeless animals their forever homes while educating the public on spaying and neutering their pets in order to decrease pet over population. Because Heartland is a 501(c) 3 organization, all donations are tax deductible.
