Asian charity holding fundraiser in Schaumburg

Metropolitan Asian Family Services is holding its 22nd annual fundraising dinner 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at India House Banquet Hall, 1521 W. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.

Metropolitan Asian Family services is a multicultural community based, not-for-profit tax exempt 501(c) 3 organization, providing valuable need-based programs to immigrant and elderly populations for the past 18 years.

It is committed to serving people from India/Pakistan/Bangladesh and East European countries facing multiple linguistic and cultural barriers. Its drop-in adult day care centers are in Chicago and the suburbs with the goal to keep seniors safe, secure, and healthy in their home to the extent possible.

The agency is currently serving about 50,000 seniors and also providing employment and training to 3,000 individuals. It also has programs providing hot meals, yoga and fitness, public benefits assistance, English as a second language training, computer training and other programs catering to the needs of the immigrant population.

The event will feature an array of art and cultural performances of Eastern and Western countries and Bollywood music and dance performances. About 1,500 people are expected.

Tickets are $50 to $175 and are available at offices in Chicago, Carol Stream, Naperville, Niles, Orland Park and Vernon Hills. More information is at mafsinc.com or (224) 208-1130.
