• Rachel M. Saez, 31, of the 300 block of Center Street, Elgin, was charged Tuesday with retail theft and contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor, according to court records. She is accused of encouraging her daughter, a minor, to commit retail theft, and she is also accused of stealing merchandise valued at less than $300 from Wal-Mart, 1100 South Randall Road. Saez had been previously convicted of a theft-related offense. Her bail was set at $25,000 in Kane County bond court, and her next court date is Aug. 13.

• About $26, four unopened packs of Marlboro cigarettes and an electronic cigarette were stolen between 10 p.m. July 14 and 5 p.m. July 15 from a pickup truck and a sport utility vehicle on the 36W200 block of Hollowside Drive near West Dundee, according to a sheriff's report.

• An unauthorized bank withdrawal of $220 from a resident on the 36W100 block of Hollowside Drive near West Dundee was reported to the sheriff's office at 4 p.m. July 17.
