Underage tobacco sales cited:

Four clerks at different businesses were issued state citations for selling tobacco products to a minor under 18, the Lake County Sheriff's Office announced Monday. Authorities conducted 75 compliance checks between May 2 and May 10 at retail establishments in Beach Park, Deer Park, Lake Barrington, Wadsworth, Volo, Spring Grove, and unincorporated Lake County. Each illegal transaction was witnessed by an undercover investigator, according to the sheriff's office. Those issued citations were: Rita M. Pavlin, Steve's Sports Bar, Darts, & More, 26029 Route 173, Antioch; Sharmishta M. Patel, of The Deli Lama Store & Café, 37041 Route 83, Lake Villa; Aleksandr Mavlyanov, Fox River Recreation, 27884 Route 173, Antioch; and, Marilynn S. Johnson, Browns Sip N' Go, 27970 Greenwood Drive, Spring Grove. All were released on their recognizance, according to the sheriff's office.
