Peterson Roofing has selected four finalists in its second annual No Roof Left Behind community program:

• Mary Ackman of Mount Prospect. This caring and loving mother and friend has lived in Mount Prospect since the 1960s. Ackman has been very generous within the community. Now suffering medical challenges, a new roof would really help.

• Carey Riedhammer of Des Plaines. A lifelong supporter of St. Emily's Parish, Riedhammer has always been involved in the community. With no social security income and currently unemployed, Riedhammer has always stayed positive and still walks to church every day.

• Gary Altergott of Elk Grove Village. As a Vietnam veteran, Altergott proudly served his country. The hardworking father of two lost his job in 2006, and could use a new roof as his current roof is in very poor condition

• Henry Blim of Mount Prospect. A local hero and World War II veteran, Blim, now in his 90s, is in need of a new roof. Doing so much for others throughout his life, he could use the support of the community to help him win this free roof.

One of these community members will receive a free roof valued between $8,000 and $12,000 from Peterson Roofing. The public is invited to read the finalists' stories and vote for their favorite online.

"We had an incredible number of wonderful nominees this year. The process to narrow to the final four was extremely challenging," said Jim Peterson, Jr. "Our finalists are all very deserving and we look to our community to help us pick our winner with their votes."

Due to the great success and feedback from last year's giveaway, Peterson Roofing has decided to donate two roofs in 2014. The second campaign is currently under way and nominations are being accepted until Aug. 3.

"It's the least we can do to give back to the community that has supported us for the past 36-plus years," says Peterson.
