Mobile food pantry stops in Algonquin on Saturday

Light of Christ Lutheran Church, in conjunction with the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Food Pantry, is hosting its fourth Mobile Food Pantry on Saturday, April 12.

This rain or shine event will be held in the church's parking lot at 100 Hanson Road, Algonquin, from 10 a.m. until all the food is distributed. All people who are in need of food are welcome.

Nurses will be available to conduct blood pressure and blood sugar tests.

Previously, more than 260 households were served with the distribution of 10,000 pounds of food. Light of Christ volunteers totaling more than 130 greeted and registered guests, set up distribution tables, escorted the guests as they shopped and helped them load food into cars.

The Light of Christ Men's Ministry is underwriting the cost of this event. It costs approximately $1,000 to have the Northern Illinois Food Bank delivery trunk come to the church with the food. A wide range of groceries will be available. In the past, bakery and cereal products, frozen meats, canned and fresh fruits/vegetables, and boxed mixes have been available.

For more information, visit locchurch.com or call the church office at (847) 658-9250.
