Ingleside man charged in fatal DUI crash in Des Plaines
An Ingleside man has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence after his car struck and killed a pedestrian Wednesday in Des Plaines, authorities said Thursday.
Police said Robert Grossman, 44, was behind the wheel of a vehicle that hit Kenneth Davis, 42, of Chicago, at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday on the 1600 block of East Touhy Avenue.
Grossman and two passengers were traveling in their car westbound on Touhy when Davis was hit. Police say Davis was crossing from the north side to the south side of Touhy, east of the intersection with Mannheim Road.
Davis was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said further investigation determined Grossman was driving under the influence of alcohol. He and his passengers were not injured in the crash, police said.
Grossman faces one count of aggravated DUI resulting in death. He is due to appear in bond court Friday in Skokie.
