Shop at Spring Book Sale at Fox River Grove library

Plan ahead for those lazy summer afternoons by filling a few bags with some great reads at the Friends of Fox River Grove Memorial Library's Spring Book Sale.

Get a head start on the search early at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 24, while you browse through CDs, DVDs, literature and more. They close up at 8 p.m., but are open again from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, April 25.

Saturday, the hours are more limited. The sale will be open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., but don't let that deter you. The best deals are to be had that day. Fill up an entire plastic bag for only $3.

The reason why the Friends of Fox River Grove Memorial Library are working so hard on the sale? Well, to put great materials into the hands of people who could use them, of course, but more importantly, to raise money for local students.

Proceeds will fund scholarships offered to Fox River Grove residents who are graduating high school seniors soon to be attending a two- or four-year college, university, or vocational school. The $500 scholarships will be awarded in May.

Donations for the book sale will be accepted during library hours, Saturday, March 22, through Wednesday, April 23.

The library is unable to accept encyclopedias, magazines or text books. Volunteers to help with the sale are always welcome and appreciated.

If interested in volunteering, call (847) 639-2274 or stop in and talk to them at 407 Lincoln Ave. in Fox River Grove.
