District 93 reaches tentative 5-year deal with teachers

Bargaining teams for Carol Stream Elementary District 93 and its teachers union have reached a tentative agreement on a new five-year contract.

Teachers are expected to vote on the deal over the next few weeks and, if they approve it, the school board is expected to ratify the contract at a March board meeting.

Details of the contract have not been released pending final approval by both sides.

The teachers have been working under terms of the union's previous agreement, which expired in July 2013. Under that contract, teachers received roughly 5.5 percent pay increases spread over three years.

District 93 serves portions of Bloomingdale, Carol Stream and Hanover Park, as well as portions of unincorporated DuPage County.

The district serves roughly 3,900 students from kindergarten to eighth grade in nine schools.
