Assurance names 2013 Employees of the Year

For two decades, Assurance, an independent insurance brokerage in Schaumburg and St. Louis, has been recognizing outstanding employee contributions with its prestigious Employee of the Year award. Starting in 2010, Assurance began to offer not one, but two employees the opportunity to be highlighted as the best of the best.

The Employees of the Year for 2013 are Robert Davidson and Jennifer Jungers. The announcement was made at Assurance's annual holiday party which took place Dec. 13.

As winners, Davidson's and Jungers' names are engraved on a commemorative award showcased at Assurance's headquarters in Schaumburg. Also, both honorees will receive a crystal bowl, cash bonus and other special recognitions throughout the year for their continued commitment to achieving company goals.

Robert Davidson

Robert Davidson of Arlington Heights joined Assurance in 2011. He is an account manager and supervisor with Assurance's senior living practice. His responsibilities are to service clients and to market and negotiate the coverage and terms that best fit their needs. His responsibilities as a supervisor are to get the most out of his team and inspire the members to have a bigger and broader positive impact at Assurance.

“I like the constant growth, change and opportunity at Assurance,” he said. “My best accomplishment this year is making the transition from account manager of a team focused on insuring the manufacturing industry to an account manager and supervisor of a team focused on the senior living industry. The teams have a completely different dynamic and focus.”

Davidson earned his Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certificate, and he was elected co-chair of Assurance's Wellness Committee. He also completed a course focused on transitioning into a leadership position, and he volunteered to help the Friends of Busse Woods not-for profit through Assurance Caring Together (ACT).

In his spare time, he reads everything from Albert Camus to Warren Buffet, bikes for hours on end and runs until it hurts.

“I am extremely grateful and humbled by being named Employee of the Year,” he said. “I believe in everything Assurance has to offer and couldn't be happier to be a part of it all. As Employee of the Year, I hope to inspire and lead my colleagues and clients to achieve the success they strive for at Assurance.”

Looking ahead, Davidson wants to earn his CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) designation and continue to move up in the company.

Jennifer Jungers

A resident of Elgin, Jennifer Jungers is a client service representative at Assurance. She joined the company in May, 2010, and today, she handles Chris Ross's book of business including certificates, new autos and equipment, audits and endorsements. She fields and responds to all calls and emails for Ross's clients. In addition, she is a mentor for select new hires.

Jungers tries to participate in everything Assurance has to offer. She has completed the Assurance Olympics two years in a row, medaling both years. She also participates in Little Angels through ACT, an employee-driven effort that strives to inspire hope in the communities where employees live and work.

“It's so nice to give my time to such an amazing organization,” she said. “I also try to do all the wellness events when I can, whether it's a wellness walk, 5K or just walking around the mall at lunch.”

Jungers enjoys the people she works with. She says she loves coming in to work every day knowing she can grow with Assurance, and that there are people always available to help.

“I was so surprised when my name was called for Employee of the Year,” she said. “I never would have imagined I would win this award. There are so many fabulous employees here at Assurance, and I'm honored to be recognized as one of them. I come in everyday and just treat people how I would like to be treated. I'm more eager than ever to show my creativity and passion while working for my clients, and I try to give them fast and reliable service. It's so nice to be recognized for doing just that.”
