A book collection drive by the Goddard Schools in Illinois, in collaboration with Bernie's Book Bank, is ongoing in the Round Lake area. The goal is to collect 25,000 books for at-risk infants, toddlers and school-age children in advance of National Reading Day on Jan. 23. Book collection locations in the Round Lake area are: the Round Lake Area Chamber of Commerce office in the Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center, 2007 Civic Center Way, Round Lake Beach; and the Goddard School, 1155 S. Amarias Drive; Round Lake village hall, 422 N. Cedar Lake Road; Round Lake Area Public Library, 906 Hart Road; Park Campus/Grayslake Elementary District 46, 400 W. Townline Road; and Nationwide Insurance, 301 N. Cedar Lake Road, all in Round Lake. The Chamber will collect books from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at the annual mayors luncheon at the civic center.
