Lady Hawks soccer team awarded for sportsmanship

The Hoffman United Lady Hawks Soccer Team was named the “Best of Hoffman” by the Hoffman Estates Park District at its Board of Commissioners regular board meeting Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Triphahn Community Center and Ice Arena.

The team was recognized after having won the Sportsmanship Award at the Huntley Summer Classic tournament in August. The award was given to the team, as voted on by the other coaches and referees, who displayed the best sportsmanship throughout the two-day tournament.

“When we heard that the Lady Hawks received this award, we wanted to recognize them,” said Keith Evans, chairman of the H.E.P.D. Board of Commissioners. “Sportsmanship is a great tradition in sports and means handling both victory and defeat with grace, style and dignity.”

The Hoffman United Soccer Club is a competitive program that consists of boys and girls from the area surrounding Hoffman Estates. The club is an extension of the H.E.P.D.
