• Sixto Jose Cortez, 19, of the 100 block of Oak Street, Elgin, was charged with felony trying to defraud a drug test, at 8:41 a.m. Nov. 12 at a drug testing facility at 333 N. Randall Road, according to a police report. An employee saw Cortez dilute a urine sample with water from a toilet. According to police, Cortez told police he was a participant in Kane County's Second Chance program on a burglary charge.
• Fifty wood markers placed in the area of Albert Drive and Hecker Street near East Dundee were stolen between noon and 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to a sheriff's report. The markers indicate the edge of the road for plow drivers.
