Addison teen charged in Craigslist sex case
Authorities say an Addison teen used Craigslist to solicit sex from an undercover cop posing as a 13-year-old girl.
Bail was set Wednesday at $30,000 for Adrian F. Torres, 17, on charges of grooming and traveling to meet a minor.
Torres caught the attention of Elmhurst police recently after he posted ads on Craigslist seeking sex with someone of “any age,” authorities said. According to prosecutors, an undercover officer responded with a photo of a 13-year-old girl, to which Torres replied by requesting to “hook up.”
“He also told her he would teach her to have sex,” Assistant State's Attorney Bethany Jackson told DuPage County Judge Anthony Coco in court.
Torres, of the 000 block of North Lincoln Avenue, was arrested after traveling to meet the officer. He admitted he believed he had been in contact with a 13-year-old girl, prosecutors said.
As a condition of his bond, Torres has been barred from using a computer and having any contact with minors. He would have to post $3,000 to be released from jail. His next court date is Dec. 2 in front of Judge John Kinsella.
