Weather drives Hoffman/Schaumburg Relay For Life indoors

Going to tonight’s (Friday’s) Relay For Life in Hoffman Estates? The location has changed.

Due to the extreme heat and the chance of severe storms, the Relay For Life of Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg has been moved to the Prairie Stone Sports & Wellness Center, 5050 Sedge Blvd, Hoffman Estates (at Prairie Stone Pkwy.), according to the Relay website.

The event starts at 6 p.m. today and runs through 6 a.m. Saturday. Teams can start to set up at 4 p.m.

Despite the change in venue the event will be held in its entirety and closing ceremonies will begin at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Even before the Relay starts, 43 teams and 313 participants have already raised $115,052 for cancer research and help for families struck by cancer, the website says.
