Villa Park man indicted on child solicitation charges
A Villa Park man has been formally indicted on charges he solicited sex from an undercover cop who posed online as a 15-year-old girl, authorities said Wednesday.
Timothy Stehle, 45, of the 500 block of North Iowa Avenue, faces separate counts of indecent solicitation of a child, solicitation to meet a child, grooming and traveling to meet a minor. His arraignment is set for Monday.
Stehle was arrested June 8 after a series of online exchanges with an undercover Elmhurst officer posing as a 15-year-old girl, police said.
Prosecutors allege in court records he arranged a meeting in an attempt to “seduce, solicit, lure or entice” a child “without the knowledge of the parent's child or guardian.”
Police said the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to detect and prevent computer-related sex crimes. They said Stehle had been soliciting “indecent liberties” with Elmhurst children on Craigslist.
Stehle remained Wednesday in DuPage County jail on $100,000 bail.
