Decision on Pleviak future:

Lake Villa Elementary District 41 leaders will discuss a proposal to close Pleviak Elementary School on June 10. A final decision on the fate of the aging school at Grand Avenue and Route 83 will be made on June 24, Superintendent John Van Pelt said following a meeting with the community Monday night. The school board will also decide whether to alter grade configurations to have two elementary schools for kindergarten through fourth grade, and one school handle fifth and sixth graders. The alternative would be to have three elementary schools focus on kindergarten through sixth grade. Both meetings are scheduled for 7 p.m. at Palombi Middle School, 131 McKinley Ave., Lake Villa.
