Libertyville earns spot in LZ regional final

Connor Simpson had 3 hits, and Kevin Calamari knocked in 3 runs, as Libertyville's baseball team defeated No. 12 Lake Forest 6-2 in semifinal action of the Class 4A Lake Zurich regional Friday.

No. 5 Libertyville (23-11-1) will play No. 4 Glenbrook North at 10 a.m. today for the regional championship.

Libertyville split a pair of regular-season games with Lake Forest. In the third meeting, the Wildcats received doubles from Simpson, Calamari and Matt Reed. Simpson and P.J. Neumann also had RBI.

Jason Buss pitched 6 innings, striking out five in earning the win.
