Senior Ariel Valles struck out six as the winning pitcher in Maine West's 8-5 victory at Maine South in the Central Suburban League softball crossover.
Holly Wengerski (3-for-4, 3 runs), Renee Pond (2-for-3, 2 runs, RBI), Abbey Herling (3-for-3), Hanna Udischas (1-for-3, 1 run, RBI) and Brie Montmarquette (1-for-3, 1 run, 2 RBI, 2-run homer) led the Warriors' offense.
"This was a charity game that raised money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital," said Maine West coach Amy Gonzales. "We raised over $300. We thank the Maine West and Maine South players and fans for coming out and supporting both the teams and the charity. It a great game and fun afternoon."
