A 22-year-old Maine Township woman accused of kicking and biting Cook County sheriff's deputies has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, authorities said Monday.

Jenelle Barton, of the 8900 block of Robin Drive, was intoxicated about 5:45 a.m. Sunday when she entered a stranger's home on the 8800 block of Robin Drive near Des Plaines, the Cook County sheriff's office said in a news release.

Deputies and the North Maine Fire Department responded to the resident's 911 call and escorted Barton outside, the release said. She's accused of then kicking a police sergeant in the chest and biting a patrol officer's right hand. The patrol officer was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Barton was hospitalized because of her level of intoxication and later released into police custody, authorities said. Along with the aggravated battery charges, she faces a felony criminal trespass to residence charge.

She appeared in bond court Monday morning in Skokie, where a judge set bail at $5,000. Barton is due back in court May 16.
