Vice president backs three incumbents

As you look through the candidates for the Streamwood park board, I ask you to join me in voting for the re-election of Adriana Vega Armstrong, Thomas Keating and Richard Brogan for additional four-year terms.

I have had the pleasure of serving on the Streamwood park board alongside Tom for six years, and Adriana and Rick these past four. I am very proud of what we have accomplished as a team, working together in bringing quality programming, park improvements and continuing best practices for our residents.

These actions culminated in the Streamwood Park District being one of 33 Illinois park districts awarded the Illinois Association of Park Districts Distinguished Park and Recreation Accredited Agency Award.

We are very proud of this award, yet we aren’t resting on our laurels. The board and staff continue to look at ways to advance quality programming and explore grant opportunities for capital improvements.

Working together as board and staff, we have developed a 15-year Master Plan that maps out improvements. It is a fluid plan, as priorities could change, but it does show a strategic vision that allows government and other grant agencies to observe that we have a strong, cohesive plan for progress with our parks and facilities. This has been done with input from the board, staff and village residents.

Regarding our financial condition, we have moved from having no credit rating to a AA- rating. I think this is further evidence this team is focused on not only delivering quality programming and facilities to our residents, but we are also being good stewards of taxpayer money in an uncertain economy.
