Route 20 closed after truck overturns

Route 20 in unincorporated Kane County remained closed late Tuesday afternoon, due to a semitrailer accident earlier in the day.

Lt. Patrick Gengler of the Kane County Sheriff’s Department said a truck carrying a load of cheese flipped on its side and dumped half of its contents on the roadway at Route 20 between Marshall and Reinking roads, an area that borders Elgin, Pingree Grove and unincorporated Kane County.

He said it is not known what caused the accident, but said no one was injured in the crash.

As of 4 p.m., both lanes on Route 20 were still closed in order to upright the truck and to clean up the load, Gengler said.

Additional details are expected to be released Wednesday, Gengler said.
