Des Plaines man pleads guilty to burglarizing unlocked vehicles
A Des Plaines man, who pleaded guilty earlier this week to stealing computers from a car parked on We Go Trail in Mount Prospect, also pleaded guilty Wednesday to similar charges involving cars in Des Plaines.
Frank Sabo, 26, was sentenced by a judge in the Skokie courthouse to three years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the Des Plaines burglaries, which occurred in October. That sentence will run concurrent to the total four-year sentence he received Monday in the Mount Prospect case, which happened in September. He was also ordered to pay $409 in fines.
Des Plaines police set up surveillance in the 900 block of Greenview Avenue after they received reports that multiple vehicles had been burglarized. Officers arrested Sabo on Nov. 30, 2012.
Sabo took iPads, iPhones and loose coins, Deputy Chief Nick Treantafeles said after Sabo's arrest, adding "if people would lock their cars probably 95 percent of our vehicle burglaries would be eliminated."
Sabo received credit for 103 days in custody. He must serve at least 50 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
