Hersey Jazz band to play at Chicago Jazz Showcase
The John Hersey High School Jazz Band 1 of Arlington Heights will perform at the legendary Chicago Jazz Showcase on Monday, March 18. Bob Lark and his Alumni Big Band will open the evening at 8 p.m., with the Hersey band taking the stage at 9 p.m.
The Hersey jazz band recently placed second in its class at the Jazz in the Meadows competition at Rolling Meadows High School and broke a regional record when it placed 12 musicians (the maximum number allowed to audition) in the Illinois Music Educators Association District VII jazz bands.
The Chicago Jazz Showcase is located at 806 S. Plymouth Court, phone (312) 360-0234. Tickets are $10, $5 for students and musicians.
