• Donald A. Nelson, 49, of the 900 block of Hawthorne, Elmhurst, was arrested Feb. 25 on the 100 block of Harrison Street and charged with battery.

• Thieves stole a wallet out of a purse at 201 South Spring Street Feb. 27.


• Jorge Colin, 43, of the 1400 block of East Ports O' Call Drive, Palatine, was arrested around 2:15 a.m. Feb. 21 on the 3600 block of North Bayside Drive and charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and DUI.

• Nicholas W. Dubois, 18, of the 5000 block of Kingston Drive, Hoffman Estates, and Emily W. Hall, 18, of the 1200 block of Olde Farm Road, Schaumburg, were arrested around 4 p.m. March 2 at Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Road, and charged with local ordinance retail theft after they reportedly took perfume, cologne, lipstick and breath strips.

• Joseph C. Rogel, 33, of the 800 block of Fair Lane, Northbrook, was arrested around 5:20 p.m. March 2 at Home Depot, 825 E. Dundee Road, and charged with retail theft after he reportedly took a thermostat valued at $130 from the store, re-entered and tried to return it for store credit.

• Thieves stole a cellphone valued at $849 out of a student's backpack while he played basketball in a gym at Fremd High School, 1000 S. Quentin Road, between 9:49 and 10:18 a.m. Feb. 15.

• Burglars broke into a storage locker on the 900 block of North Countryside Drive between Feb. 1 and 27 and stole a storage case, two photography flash power packs and two flash heads. Value was estimated at $3,900.

• Burglars entered an unlocked home on the 1000 block of Lilac Place between 2:40 and 4 p.m. March 4 and stole a laptop computer, video game system, plasma TV and purse. Value was estimated at $1,230.

• Burglars stole a GPS valued at $299 out of an unlocked 2005 Hyundai SUV in an apartment lot on the 700 block of East Pennsylvania Drive between 3 p.m. Feb. 21 and 2 p.m. Feb. 22.

• Burglars stole a test meter out of a 2008 Ford pickup truck at AT&T, 20 S. Brockway St., between 8 p.m. Feb. 21 and 10 a.m. Feb. 23.

• Burglars broke into a 2007 Honda SUV in a lot at St. Nectarios Church, 133 S. Roselle Road, between 10:50 and 11:30 a.m. Feb. 24 and stole a purse. Loss was estimated at $350.

• Burglars stole an iPod, wallet, various ID cards and cash out of an unlocked vehicle in a restaurant lot at 1719 N. Rand Road between 10 and 10:14 p.m. March 2. Value was estimated at $300.

• Thieves stole a locked men's black bicycle with child seat out of a bike rack at the Metra depot, 137 W. Wood St., between 6:30 a.m. and 7:40 p.m. Feb. 25. Value was estimated at $300.
