Roselle, Bloomingdale men killed when motorcycle slams into car

Two men were killed and a 13-year-old boy injured after a motorcycle collided with a car Saturday night in Roselle, police said.

Brian Wojcik, 19, of Bloomingdale, and David Phillips, 35, of Roselle, died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to Roselle police. The 13-year-old, believed to be Phillips' son, was transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with injuries that police believe are not life-threatening.

The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Lake Street and Wheaton Road. Phillips, driving a 2010 Chevy Malibu, was making a left turn from a retail complex onto Lake Street when his car was broadsided by a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Wojcik, police said.

Witnesses told police that Wojcik was driving at a “high rate of speed,” according to a release from the Roselle police.

The crash remains under investigation by Roselle police and the DuPage County Accident Reconstruction Team. The DuPage County coroner's office will conduct toxicology tests to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. On Sunday, the coroner's office could provide no additional information.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about it is asked to call Roselle police Officer David Cotton at (630) 671-4076 or send him an email at dcotton@roselle.il.us.
