• A Dell computer monitor, hard drive, keyboard and mouse were stolen sometime between 8 a.m. Feb. 7 and 8 a.m. Feb 11 from a basement storage unit of an apartment complex on Blackhawk Drive, according to a police report. There were no apparent signs of forced entry into the basement, but the hinges of the storage unit had been pried open.
• A PlayStation 3 video game console and about a dozen video games were stolen sometime between 9 and 11 a.m. Friday from a home on the 500 block of Wilcox Avenue, police said. The resident was home taking a nap at the time, according to reports.
• Daniel M. Scarbrough, 18, of the 100 block of Sioux Avenue, was arrested this week and charged with two felony counts of theft this week. He is accused of stealing a friend's iPhone, which was worth more than $500, according to a police report. Police Cmdr. Timothy Bosshart said Scarbrough asked to borrow his friend's cellphone on Monday; after about 20 minutes, Scarbrough ran off with the phone. Using the GPS tracking function on another iPhone, the friend found the location of the original phone and called police, who arrested Scarbrough, Bosshart said. Scarbrough's bail was set at $15,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court March 1 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
• Catherine Arbelaez, 55, of the 100 block of Washington Street, Carpentersville, was charged Sunday with felony retail theft, police said. She is accused of stealing merchandise from Sears at Spring Hill Mall, according to a police report. Her bail was set at $5,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 27 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
